Sam ran in the ING half marathon this past Sunday. This is the first marathon Atlanta has had. It was very exciting. He did very well. He beat his time by 4 minutes! He is training for the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC this October. I have been really surprised by his determination and training this year. Running is purely a spectator sport for me!
It's time to lower the mattress. I peeked in on Warren yesterday at nap time and he was standing up in his crib! Sam and I put him back in later to see if you could do it again and much to our surprise he did!
I finished the nursery last night. It took a while to pull it all together but it's finally done! It took me a long time to decide on a rug. Once I did I was able to make the curtains. Well, I did cheat a little. I bought tab top curtains and then added the stars myself. I cut them out of fabric with pinking shears and ironed them on. I didn't feel like pulling out the sewing machine! So, now I just have one final touch to add, the Baby!!
I think they call this "nesting". I've had the need to get projects finished in the house lately. I needed curtains for the dining room. So, I dusted off the sewing machine and went to town! I love Damask. When I found this fabric I knew I had to have it. These are the first panels I've ever made. And YES they are lined. I also recovered my dining room chairs with the same fabric. I then realized I hated my curtains in the kitchen. I had some old curtains packed in the linen closet. I didn't like the style but loved the color. I chopped them up and made a great valance! The best part was it was free. I knew I saved those ugly curtains for a reason!
We are finally done!! We added wainscoting and crown molding to the nursery. It took a lot more to paint than we expected. I am so relieved to have his furniture in his room. Now I just have to do the final touches and fill it with toys and tiny clothes!! Little Brodie is excited as well. He loves to go lay under the crib and hide. I think he believes this room is for him.
